As part of Cambridge University Botanic Garden’s upcoming Festival of Plants, I’ve been asked to help set up a display of and about resurrection plants. If you’re not familiar with this remarkable group of plants, which are able to undergo extreme desiccation before reactivating metabolism upon rehydration, then here’s a time-lapse video of the effect of rehydration on a nice monocot example: Xerophyta humilis (Velloziaceæ).
